The marine works will be performed by the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority (SHK) and the Estonian Safety Investigation Bureau (OJK), facilitated by Finnish authorities in co-operation with the Norwegian company Reach Subsea as the main contractor. The marine works together with transfers are expected to last 7-8 days, depending on weather conditions.
The planned marine works at the wreck site of MV Estonia include the acquisition of bedrock and fouling samples, recovery of cut-out pieces, car deck inspection and the recovery of the bow ramp. Underwater surveys are to be performed with unmanned ROV-s.
